Not the best start to the week!!!

Well it's not been a great start to week. Yesterday i needed to made some batches of soap. I got everything ready only to find that my hotplate wasn't working. Now to most people this wouldn't be a problem, just pop it on the stove and then carry it to the workshop when the oils have melted. But we moved house 6 months ago and I still don't have a stove top that works. So no soap making for me yesterday....

Then today i've spent most of the morning moving buckets around the conservatory due to the terrible rain coming in the roof.

On a plus side 3 orders came in yesterday so all the wrapping and packing I did yesterday was not wasted. Just need to make more soap as the shelves are looking bare.

Although I should of been making soap i've been reading all kinds of soap making blogs. Some fantastic things going on in the soaping world. If your interested in soap making have a quick look at some of the blogs below.

Over 12 Months.... terrible

I'm not that good at the whole social networking thing, as you can probably tell. I'm not too bad at keeping facebook up to date but as you can see i'm terrible at blogging. I've been thinking about this today and was wondering if i should revive it. I'm going to try and be good and update it regularly. Saying that I am away in two weeks time but we'll cross that bridge when it comes.

I should fill in the gaps since the last postvreally. Where on earth to start.. Well, we've moved from South Uist to North Uist, and love the new house. I've got my own workshop, feeling up load of space in the house. Also it contains the mess when i'm "creating".. Our branding exercise was completed back in January just in time for the Glasgow trade fair. This was the first trade show we've done so it was very nerve wracking but exciting too. We met loads of lovely people and i'm glad to say some of them we are doing business with.. Hooray!!

We've booked to do the trade show again in September and will also be attending The Country Living fair in the SECC Glasgow in November too. If your in Glasgow come along and see us it's a fab place to get some lovely Christmas pressies. Sorry for using the C word in May...

As it's late and i think i've excelled myself tonight by posting i'll love you and leave you all, but i'll leave you a quick pic of the new soap labels..

Nite Nite all. xx

Where did the Easter Holidays go!!!

Is it just me or did that Easter school break go by really fast. Not that i'm saying i'd like to repeat it or anything but it did seem to zoom by. That could also be down to my age but we won't go into that. So school starts back tomorrow which by rights would leave me to a very creative week.... But as usual things haven't gone to plan and i'm off to Inverness & Glasgow instead...So what should of been a very productive time will now not be. But on the plus side i have no doubt it will be an enjoyable one instead.

Fingers crossed i'll have a new PC so i can finally retire this one to the place it should of gone too a very long time ago. Not that i'm going to shout about it as it's been working ok and if it figures out the fact it may be heading for retirement it is bound to get it's revenge somehow.

I'm going to make a promise too. I'm not big on them so think yourselves as lucky... I promise to post some pictures of lovely new soaps when i'm back from the mainland.. There i said it and i mean it. I've been meaning to do it for ages but due to PC probelms i've been unable too...

Well thats me for a week or two, so i'm off to finish the last of the chocolate eggs and put my feet up before my trip tomorrow. Fingers crossed the sun still shines tomorrow and the wind stays calm for the ferry. Have fun and catch you all soon. xx

And finally........ relax

I know it's been a very long time since i last posted but it's not like I've been doing nothing since then. My first trip away was great fun and very informative. I learnt how to create some lovely effects with glycerin soap. I also brought loads of lovely Mica's.

I have been playing with them and can confirm the colours are beautiful...

I've also been to Cumbria, Where a group of soap makers all met up to have a fun experimental soapy weekend. Another bonus to this was the heaps of samples we all got to bring home. I'm still covering myself in the body butters and balms we made and I'm loving them all.

Last weekend was the wedding fare at the Cabarfeidh Hotel in Stornoway. It was a lovely day which raised nearly £500 for charity. Everything from wedding dresses to inflatable sumo suits could be found. Although it was a long day it was well worth it. My friend and I went to the local Chinese for a meal which was a real treat. I can't remember my last Chinese meal it was soooooo long ago.

Anyway hopefully soon i'll have some lovely new products to post about. I'm nearly finished them and hope to have started on the packaging soon.

If i can work out how to post pictures I'll hopefuly manage to put some up of the beautiful barn in Cumbria and our soapy creations..

Ummm! Harder than i thought.

Well the vigilant amongst you will notice that so far as blogging goes I'm not the best. I'm good at phoning friends and keeping in touch but i just keep forgetting to update my blog. I love looking at other lovely blogs, not just the soap making ones but anything that's handmade. I'm just rubbish at updating my own. But stick with me and i promise I'll get better.

I'm actually going away tomorrow, which i have to say I'm thoroughly looking forward too. This was a trip that was planned at the beginning of January but due to the fact that the UK was frozen solid the only place i got to was Benbecula airport for the day. Whilst Benbecula is very pretty, it's wasn't in my plan to spend the whole day there. I have to say the staff were very nice and kept us fed and watered but there was a lot of unhappy people who never managed to go anywhere other than home again...

I'm off to Huddersfield for a few days and hopefully will come back with lots of exciting news on soap and all things bubbly.. fingers crossed..x

Right, well that's it for today. I better start to get organized for my long awaited trip tomorrow. But after a big roast dinner I only really want to sit on the sofa with a large glass of wine.... Oh well......No rest for the wicked

New to Blogging!!

You'll need to bear with me on this one, as i think it's going to take some time for me to get used to this. I've never kept a diary and not really seen the need too, but maybe due to age I'm starting to see how much fun it could be to start one.

I was talking to a friend the other night who said i should start a blog showing not only the products I've made which have worked but also the ones that don't. These ones are normally condemned to a life sat on my shelves until i need the space and rather reluctantly ditch them.

As it's the run up to Christmas i may be slightly manic and disappear for periods of time which could be due to a number of things, workload, Christmas festivities, laziness, or just plain "baa humbug!!"
